Library

The College has a Central Library  well stocked with about 1lakh books of varied subjects taught in the college. It provides reading room facilities and Computer access to faculty members. An additional reading room for students is located in Annex building (ACTC) of the college which can accommodate about 100 readers at a time. The Library staff  are trained and is headed by the Librarian Smt. Phulrani Chakravorty (M.A, M.Library Sc., B.Ed). In addition to the Central Library, all the departments have their own departmental Libraries called. Seminar Libraries for the Honours students.

 

Hostel    

The College provides hostel facilities for the boys. The two hostels are located at 16, Basanta Bose Road (old) and 22,Kalighat Road (new) respectively. The superintendents are Dr. Binayak Misra (Dept. of Zoology) and Dr. Partha Sarathi Ghosh (Dept. of Chemistry) respectively. However, the available seats are not adequate to meet the needs of all intending boarders. Seats are alloted transparently on a strict merit cum distance basis.

 

FAEA

The Foundation for Academic Excellence and Access (FAEA), administered by Pathways Foundation and funded by the Ford Foundation has selected the college as a beneficiary for a five year period from August, 2002. Students belonging to socially and economically marginalised families studying honours courses in the college are given financial assistance towards tuition fee and purchase of books. FAEA has provided additional financial assistance for taking up training on Entrepreneurship programme during 2004-2005. Details of eligibilty and the quantum of financial assistance can be obtained from Dr. Debdas Ray (Geology). Asutosh College Teachers' Council is also publishing a magazine, DELF, containing articles contemporary issues, under FAEA programme.

The college also provides opportunity to its students to participate in programmes related to Campus Diversity Initiative, another Ford Foundation funded project. Presently, the college have been chosen as the co-ordinating college of FAEA programme in the states of Orissa, Jharkhand, Bihar, West Bengal & Assam of Eastern and North-Eastern India. 

 

Students' Health Home

Facilities of Students' Health Home are available to the students. Students are entitled to a Group Insurance under New India Assurance. The monthly premium is Rs.6/-. The claim amount will be Rs.25,000/- in case of accident and Rs.50,000/- in case of death.
